Burghound: There is a whiff of the exotic present on the slightly honeyed aromas of white peach, freshly sliced citrus and a floral top note. The succulent, even seductively textured medium-bodied flavors possess both good volume and density that contrasts somewhat with the bone-dry, moderately austere and borderline tannic finale. The Clos de la Maltroie is usually approachable young, but this sneaky long effort is going to require at least some patience. In a word, lovely. *Outstanding*

In the village of Chassagne-Montrachet, one of the most respected wineries is Domaine Michel Niellon. It is a regular feature on the wine lists of star restaurants and is often compared to Ramonet as one of the twin giants of the Chassagne village. Robert Parker considers him one of the top five producers of Chardonnay and has awarded him the highest rating of five stars.
